About Daniel Meeks
Founder and tutor at Level Up Korean
I first became interested in Korea back in high school, where I studied Chinese for four years and started learning more about Asian cultures. In 2013, I had the chance to visit Korea for the first time, and I was immediately hooked — the language, the food, the culture, it all felt exciting and new. I ended up living there for two years, and even though I struggled a lot at first, I was determined to learn Korean. Those early experiences of confusion, discovery, and connection shaped how I approach language learning to this day.
After returning to the U.S., I continued studying Korean and eventually started tutoring online. I’ve now spent over a decade learning the language and thousands of hours helping students around the world speak with confidence. As someone who didn’t grow up bilingual, I understand how frustrating it can be to hit a wall or feel like you’re not making progress — that’s why I focus on practical, natural Korean you can actually use, taught in lessons that are relaxed, encouraging, and even fun.

What to Expect from Lessons
Every lesson is one-on-one and built around you — not a fixed curriculum everyone follows the same way. We focus on grammar explained clearly, real conversational Korean, and polite everyday expressions you’ll actually use. After each lesson, I save notes, grammar, and vocabulary to your student portal so you can review them anytime, plus homework when it’s useful for keeping up momentum between lessons.
