After trying several other tutors, connecting with Daniel has by far been the best decision I’ve made on my journey to learning the Korean language. He is always fully prepared and has the skill of taking complex topics and simplifying them into easier and more digestible parts. He is patient, creates a laid back safe environment for you to make mistakes as you read/speak aloud, challenges you to apply the concepts being taught in that moment, all-the-while encouraging you as you inevitably stumble. He is a natural teacher. Each session is content rich and you realize the amount you’ve covered and learned by the time the session ends. He makes learning the language enjoyable as his passion for people and the language shines through. What sets him apart, however, from other tutors I’ve experienced is that he understands what it’s like to start from scratch. Being a native English speaker and fluent in Korean, he is able to keenly translate the cultural sentiments and nuances of both languages, which I find offers a robust learning experience. I’ve been working with Daniel for a few weeks now alongside my Korean class at University. Daniel is always super patient with my lack of speaking confidence and help me work through and questions/tangents that come up. He also was so helpful in preparing for my 밀하기 신함 recently (I passed thanks to his help and preparations). All in all, absolutely recommend reaching out to Daniel if your interested in learning Korean. Bonus, we usually try and get one or two colloquial words/phrases in at the end of a session for a bit of extra fun, engagement, and common speech practice.

Just this month I reached my 60 hour milestone with Daniel and I cannot say enough good things about him. Daniel offers unending patience and an ability to find your current Korean language level and to bring it forward in a natural way. His classes are very casual so as to be structured around encouraging speaking, conversation, pronunciation and grammar, which does wonders for breaking that hesitation/paralysis to speak that I found when learning languages formally in college. I started with only the ability to read and “sound out” some Korean characters to being able to converse at a casual level thanks to Daniel. I highly recommend him especially for English-as-first-language speakers as he has the unique experiencing of going through the Korean language learning process himself. 5 stars.
